About our cause
About our cause
Synergy Dance® Outreach is an award-winning UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of children, young people and adults through inclusive dance, fitness, yoga, singing and wellbeing activities.
We specialise in supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), long-term or life-limiting health conditions, and those experiencing social or economic disadvantage. Our mission is simple: no one should be left behind.
Through our accessible and engaging programmes, we help people build confidence, improve physical and mental wellbeing, reduce isolation and feel part of a supportive community. For many of our participants, our sessions are the first time they have felt fully included in physical activity.
Groundbreaking work in Children’s Hospitals
One of the most unique and impactful areas of our recent work is delivering inclusive movement sessions in children’s hospitals.
Our specially trained instructors provide adapted dance, yoga and singing sessions for children aged 4 months to 18 years, working in highly specialised environments including intensive care units, high dependency wards, burns units, neuro wards, CAMHS and bedside settings.
We currently deliver sessions at Evelina London and Great Ormond Street Hospital, with plans to expand to Alder Hey and Bristol children’s hospitals. These sessions bring moments of joy, connection and normality to children and families during incredibly challenging times.
Hospital play teams describe our work as “invaluable”, noting improvements in mood, engagement and social connection. Even small interactions - a smile, a song, a movement - can make a powerful difference.
Our Impact
Our inclusive programmes reach communities across the UK, including SEND schools, leisure centres, care settings and outreach venues.
In the past year we have:
- Reached over 2,600 participants directly
- Delivered hundreds of inclusive sessions
- Worked with 60+ partner organisations nationwide
We take our inclusive activities to: - Schools, colleges and universities
- Children’s hospitals
- Outreach centres and charities
- Leisure centres
- Care homes and supported living settings
- Community hubs and youth centres
- Social prescribing settings
Together, we are creating more inclusive communities and accessible opportunities for physical activity and musical enrichment.
The positive impact extends far beyond participants to families, siblings, carers and communities.
Who we support
We aim to work with people who often face the greatest barriers to physical activity, including:
- Children and young people with SEND
Individuals with long-term or life-limiting health conditions - Disabled participants, including wheelchair users and those with visual or hearing impairments
- People experiencing mental health challenges or social isolation
- Families facing financial hardship
- Older adults, including those living with dementia
- All sessions are carefully adapted so everyone can participate - whether seated, standing, sensory-based or low-impact.
